ReplyDeleteIts a tough choice between the vice chairs.
ReplyDeleteDo we want experience or new blood during these tough times that we are facing
Food for thought. Every contract for as long as I can remember has been tough. We have lost more than I care to think about. The only thing I will say is this last contract the present committee broke even or gained more for the union members inside and out than any other contract in the past 20+ years.
ReplyDeleteSo when they talk about experience and they want change for the better, I can't see a need for change.
No one has really commented on our nominees for executive board. I feel we need a representative from every department on this committee.
ReplyDeleteI also believe that every Department in Our Unit should be represented. Consider: with the exception of Recorder, We have SIX Offices- Chair, Vice Chair & Four Exec Committee Members. Then, We have Five "Departments"- Field, Test, Dispatch, Repair and Assignment. We know Our Chair will be from the Field. Depending on Who the Vice Chair is, there is likely to be at least One Department left out. However, let's consider this also: In Politics, Larger States have more Congress Persons and Senators than Smaller Ones (Example, Texas vs SD). This COULD also apply to Our elections too. Also- How many Members from any & all above Departments have attended Monthly Meetings on a regular, on-going basis, whether an Officer or Not?? Attending Meetings is not just for Officers. I feel It's an OBLIGATION. Yes, I've heard the stories... "Oh, I don't have time for that". Well, actually- I Don't have the Time either- I MAKE THE TIME- Sacrifices...
