Bargaining Completed

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today the company and union reached the point where we feel the membership should now vote on the contract.  A letter will be mailed out informing everyone about the ratification meetings.

The meetings start Monday November 28th and conclude on Thursday December 1st.

We also want to inform everyone that within the next couple of days the company will be announcing surpluses in certain workgroups across the country. The company will be canvassing for volunteers to take VSP.  The company will be offering everyone in the surplus group a choice between taking VSP or getting a Pension Enhancement of 3 Years added to your years of service. They are not committing at this point that at the end of the canvass period if they do not reach the surplus number that they will not then proceed to involuntary layoffs.

  1. So the question is are we being laid off??? I would love to get this information sooner than later.... I haven't been with the company for a yr yet so these packages that they are offering don't pertain to me... so I would be basically kicked to the curb with no care in the world and have to wait on unemployment (which is nothing).....

    1. No right now there are no layoffs. The company will be canvassing for volunteers to tak a voluntary seperation in areas where they feel are surpluses. After the canvas is done and they do not reach their number the company as of today stated they do nott know if involuntary will take place. They will have to assess that then

    1. A positive way to look at this is if they keep it voluntary with VSP and the only ones that leave are ones that they choose to.

So let's all stay strong and united and keep the faith that it doesn't go to involuntary. Together we all will get thru this

    1. Our current contract explains when the 60 day notice starts. It's covered in the layoffs and recall section.

    2. Is it the same for regular layoffs and VSP? The contract does not differentiate. That is why I asked in the first place

  9. I have made my decision....and I don't have to go to a meeting to decide.....If complex assigners continue to get complex pay and do facility assigner work (there are 4 in my area) then I will vote NO!!! Unions should be fair to employees if I do the same work that a person that went through the same class what is fair about that. I don't care about anything else rather than equal pay for equal work...put complex assigners in complex jobs.....unfair labor practice

    1. Keep in mind, those complex assigners had to not only qualify for one function, but two- assignment and one of the three special skills (cuts, centrex, circuits), in order to be a qualified complex assigner. It is the Company's fault that there are complex assigners not currently doing their trained "special skill". Those complex assigners could be moved into any of the three above "special skills" at any time, all for less than a dollar an hour more than tier 1 pay. All it would take is an opening.
