  5. Our healthcare provider is awful. 200 dollars monthly, an increased deductible and insane max out of pockets should be considered money out of our pockets

  6. I like how none of the pro Lead man comments get posted.nice union

  7. We should do without a leadperson. Not only do I see them laughing it up and drinking coffee most of the day in management office;or complain and "cry" to management they don't want to run the printer. They work less but get paid more than the rest of us. It is obvious that this position is dividing us apart. As a strong union supporter we need to be united and strong(POWER IN NUMBERS). What the company is doing is "divide and conquer". I believe that the Management had the Leadpeople fill out 2 or more of the Contract Proposal Sheets in order to sidetrack the real local issues. Why do I hear them pushing for WiFi......WiFi, are you kidding me. NEWSFLASH!!We already have WiFi. How do you think the Supervisors communicate? They are petty and want to feel powerful by not giving out password. More importantly leave vacation pick alone, remember you will be the senior person in future. Don't mess with work rotation. We need more personal/sick days.

  8. Here are some ideas from a senior person who is about to retire

    1. Leadpersons work, if you have the right individuals and rotated

    2. I wish I had rotations 30 day rotations would work

    3. More sick days

    4. Everyone should at least have 1 summer week vacation

    5. a happy workforce is a productive workforce

  9. I sense alot of jealousy over these lead positions. Maybe from people that applied but came up short. No lead wants Wi-Fi. Lol. People stay in the break room long enough without it..

    1. I mean not for nothing but if I can go to any store in the us and get wifi I don't see the big deal why we shouldn't have it....

  10. Dear Brothers & Sisters

Let's start and sift through the recent blogs and BS. Of demands for example free wifi and changing the wording of leadman. The real issues we should be focusing on ,should be items that compensate us as hourly employees.

Let's fight for a 5%- 7% raise in our hourly wage. How about a higher night shift differential. How about all scheduled overtime be paid at double time. Or a 2 week day,1week night rotation, a increase in our pension. Health benefits with a lower deductible and lower out of pocket max. More money in our HSA, 2 sick days and 3 personal, with out paperwork, salary already has 3 personal. Lowering the tenor for vacation ex. 6yrs=3wks,12yrs=4wks.
The possibility of buying out some of our tenor employees. A higher shoe allowance for all dept. Especially in the D&I area , also compensation for D&I as well for taking over the Briquetter room. Another proposal all new hires don't reach full rate for a 2yr term. Or when you work overtime the 2nd day or 3rd day in row it's at double the hourly rate. "Leadperson" is every dept. A higher hourly rate for the millwrights, chem process, tool journeymen ,sorry politically correct "journeypeople"

Now with these issues that have been listed above. Here is the reasons why we should fight for them. As everyone knows we just a broke another record producing year, a 46 year all time high. And guess what they want more than before. With a less hourly staff, and "rumor" has it with a staff of 80 employees. Which in most cases here at wallkill turn out to be the truth. So far since the last contract we've loss. Employee personnel in the depts, of millwrights, electricians despite the raise, tool room, chem process, warehouse. Plus with this when 3 of our tenor brothers retire from the Deco dept. Instead of hiring for these positions they want to move people around from the Tool room and D&I depts.

The past contact was opened in the middle of the term. To adjust the hourly wage for electricians, and also created the "leadperson" for wallkill. Which was a good proposal all around for us and them. For us it helped our fellow co-workers, and prove the FACT THAT THERE WAS MONEY STILL LEFT ON THE TABLE FROM LAST NEGOTIOANS. Supposedly there was no more left on the table. And guess what SURPRISE!!!! , and guess where it came from "US" not standing together and fighting for it.

C'mon it's time to get our heads out of you know where and take a look around. The hell with free wi-fi in a contract , that's like the last contract people we're asking for free soda "Really C'mon". We've lost replacement in every dept. And never received any compensation for it.

Now is the time to stand together as brothers & sisters, and fight for our demands. Some may be Leary and stray for fear of strike or shut down. "NEWSFLASH" a strike takes a long time to implement. Have to vote no on all 3 proposal and then even a while after that . And for the Coup-De-Grace (DeathBlow) the shut down. It doesnt matter if we received a .25 cent raise per hour or a $5.00 raise per hour when it comes from corporate it doesn't matter.

We've been here at wallkill for 46years and going strong, just recently in the "Can-Versation" it states that we set the standard for all other ball plants. And I guarantee after the signing of a contract that all of sudden we will have the Red Bull here at wallkill.

We are so great at conversion we do it in 1 shift. We are so good at that we send our own to other plants teach them the skill that we possess. And here's the kicker they get more of everything than what we receive here.

Now is the time to stand together and fight for all as brothers and sisters and the go distance till our demands are met. It's time we start get treated as assets to the company rather than degenerates.

  11. Why are we voting by mail, I'm calling voting fraud. Quick question is Noreen gonna be the counting them.

Why not do the vote right here. On the last day for example A/B crew one day and C/D crew the next and call every employee to come and vote in the cafeteria

    1. We are voting by mail to give everyone the opportunity to vote. We have had complaints that people were on vacation, sick or out of town and couldnt vote this gives everyone the opportunity to vote.

At the ratification meeting we will be asking for three volunteers to go to the post office box and collect the ballots, open and count them. The bargaining team and anyone interested can be there to observe the opening and counting.

  12. Some sick days and maybe a 3min window when punching in, instead of getting a write up for punching in at 7:01

  13. In other plants the et, millwrights, and toolroom guys all make the same amount of money it is a skilled labor no reason a leadman should make more than millwrights or toolman not asking to get what the electrician make but should be more than a leadman. Sucks when a leadman calls you because he can't do the job.

    1. Why should a lead man have to do a millrights job? It's YOUR job.

  14. As I see it, lead positions are warranted. Whether you accept it or not, we all know that each crew has “go to” individual when something mechanically speaking goes wrong. Whether leads were properly chosen for there mechanical skill sets over there personality and ability to interact with management is an entirely different discussion. The true issue here lies in the disrupted dynamic that lead positions have created with the addition of a $2 raise. For example, in the eyes of this company; tool journeyman, millwrights, and electricians have shown through additional testing when they applied -that they have additional mechanically competency that others may not possess, ie. welding, machining skill, understanding wiring diagrams/ programming etc... How in the hell does a lead journey man (someone that has completed the same “do nothing” machine that everyone does) make more money than someone that holds a position of additional mechanical value to the company. In a nutshell, aside from ETs- both tool room and millwrights SHOULD BE paid more than the highest level production level journeyman (lead guy) simply because they have proven additional mechanical skills to obtain those jobs that others have not. This may be interpreted as me speaking out of self interest but in actuallity it’s common sense. Economics 101: no one will strive for promotion an additional responsibility if they can stay can stay in a position and become a lead and make more $. The money incentive has been removed. Whom ever implemeted this lead position lacks education on the fundamentals of how business is conducted.

  16. I'm am tired of hearing from so called tech that think they are all that and should be making more money then everyone else. Not one department is more important than the other this is a union plant every department needs more money.

    1. I’m a millwright not a social worker but I’ll give this one a go... Your missining the point, It’s not a question of one person being better than another, and all departments are certainly valuable. For example doctors are not any better than school janitors, however they possess a skill set that’s unique and difficult to replace and thus are compensated accordingly. This is why doctors are paid more than school janitors. This should be common knowledge. If I pass 3 welding tests and a written exam as well as the “do nothing machine” I should be compensated more than an individual that has done one or none of those tests.

  17. So with all the added responsibilities the leads take on they dont deserve anything? You knew what is was when you applied for millright.

    1. I am a proponent of lead men - read the first two sentences of my first post- however I am glad that you brought this up. For comparative measure my responsibilities grew from the confines of one department to an entire plant, please elaborate on your own...

To the whitty gentleman that posted the insightful crybaby comment, I will reply with a similing emoji face 😁 as to not overcomplexify. Well worded my friend.
