  3. I want to be loud and clear. It is one of my major proposals after pay and insurance. We have 5 sick days, why are we getting an occurrence when we use them.

I agree with Pete, if you want to give me an dccurence on one of my 5 days I will and so should everyone take the maximum amount of days before a doctors note is needed.

  4. I agree about the sick time also.

  5. I am asking all of us in Middletown to email our Union Officers and let them know we are not happy with the A & L Policy and Day after Thanksgiving.

If the company can not help us a little on these two issues then WHY should 363 help the company with the politicians in Orange County. Ask the politicians to say NO until our contract is finalized. Let the politicians see that the company will take care of their employees and NOT just out for GREED.

It would also help if we all call our local politicians and let them know we are in a contract discussion just as the compy is trying to get a contract from them for TV.

  6. We need to continue to stand up and shout Omaha to show our support. These are main issues that need to be addressed. Let your voices be herd.

  7. I agree I agree I agree. Enough is enough. The a and l policy needs to go and we need more time off for how much mandated time we give THEM! OMAHA

  8. In a work setting like ours where we work in such close quarters, we should not be expected to come to work sick. I can understand occurrences after you've used all of your sick days, but we should not be punished for being sick. Also, being late should not carry the same weight as missing an entire day. If you're going to be late, you might as well call in for 2 days and at least get paid to stay home

  9. why do we get spoken to and ultimately written up for using sick days that the company has given us to use as needed but if you use them you get spoken to

  10. A&L policy needs to be revised! Occurrences should not begin until the 5 sick days we are allotted, are used!

  11. Yes Big Pete!! I agree!!

  12. How come No one wants to let the company and their supervisors know this? Let them know current offers are unacceptable. Stand up and yell bullshit!

  15. Seriously, what kind of business model believes that discipline of an employee for using time given to them for that specific reason isn't going to alienate it's workforce and consequently lower morale? If the company were to support its employees and respect them as people, they might get the same in return.

  16. RUMORS ARE FLYING AROUND HERE IN MIDDLETOWN THAT WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT OUR CURRENT A&L POLICY OR THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING... Where did this BS come from? Now... It's not own ONLY concern but it does in fact need to be addressed! Tell everyone you know, let them write it on the blog too. Our voices need to be heard! Together we stand as one. As one.. WE CAN NOT BE DIVIDED!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Why are we paying Union dues if our voices are not being heard? Why would the company allow 5 sick days if it is an automatic occurrence? That's not fair! We have signed proposals for the changes that we want and obviously all that paperwork means nothing to our union leaders.

  18. I agree. Being late is not the same as calling out so we shouldn't get penalized for it under the same guidelines. We should be able to use our sick days.

  20. I do not agree with this! We are not happy whats so ever with the A & L policy. In my center I helped pass out papers about this policy, so we can make a difference and see changes within frontier. There is 365 days in a year and we are only allowed 5 sick days, if we use any of those sick days we are penalized for each one used, which can lead to a write up, suspension, or worst we could be fired. Mind you this is for using sick time. As an employee it makes me feel that even if I feel at my worst health wise... that I need to make it into work because I don't want to get an occurrence. Doing that not only puts myself at risk but my fellow co workers. I sure don't want to share my germs, nor do I want a co worker who is sick to share their germs. I believe that if we are given 5 sick days that we should not be penalized for using them, now if we were to go over those 5 days then I would understand an occurance. I feel certain policies such as the a & l are set up for people to fail.

    1. I completely agree. What sort of company provides sick time and then punishes the employee for using it. Employees are told they can use the sick time for medical appointments and then are punished for doing so. Add to this the humilation of being required to get a slip of paper from your medical people as proof of your appointment. Isn't this dangerously close to infringing on the HEPA laws as one may not wish to let anyone know exactly what kind of medical attention is being gained.

  22. I have never worked for another company that treats their employees like children. I didn't even have this much supervision when I was in grade school. It's pretty sad when grown adults have to be babysat by the supervisors. As long as we are getting our work done, leave us alone!

  23. It's not the Union Leaders who are causing this problem it's the company's management team. Your brothers and sisters at the table fight for u every day. You all need to support them as they fight for what you want. LETS STAND TOGETHER now is the time like never before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Stand up every day! OMAHA!
I agree....the Sick policy is wrong....only get an occurrence after you use all your 5 sick days! it is totally stupid that if don't use all of your sick time they give you MORE that you can't use! makes no sense!

  25. The A&L policy sucks and if we are giving 5 days a year we should be able to use them. Once you have none left than proceed with your process. We are not backing down Frontier you are in for a rude awakening. United we need to stand, vote it down. I expect our union to fight fight fight because we will be right behind you fighting for what is long over due to New York employees. Verizon succeeded and so are we. From an unhappy collector in Middletown, NY. Enough is enough

  26. Either get rid of the sick days per year or the a and l policy. Both seem crazy.

  27. Side note, The day after Thanksgiving needs to be a paid holiday. Bunch of BS we are forced to work when it seems everyone else has it off.

I agree, We DO CARE about replacing the A&L Policy, and- the day after thanksgiving, as It's the ONLY GUARANTEED 4 day weekend We have of the working Year. This Local Management really disgusts Me, to be honest. Yes, One occurrence, Max days off. I'M ON BOARD WITH THIS.

  31. The company is always complaining that there is too much churn, that they can't keep good employees here. Any one who hires on here must be desperate for a job. The pay sucks, they treat their employees like servants. Perhaps a little respect would keep us from gnawing off the leg chain and running like hell. Sick days are sick days, not crimes. How about a decent pay raise. Get ready to walk for our demands. There is no way they can run this company without us.

  33. I know it has been explained to me but why have dispatchers work the day after Thanksgiving if the techs are not working ... that does not make sense at all

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do not agree with the current A&L policy. Until I have used all of the GIVEN sick days allowed, I should not be punished. Also, the day after Thanksgiving should be a paid holiday for all. Allow employees to spend time with their families for a day. We work 10 hour days to help this company out, it's the least they can do.

  35. I DO NOT AGREE WITH CURRENT A & L POLICY OR THE DAY AFTER THANKSGIVING.
It is crazy that if you have sick time left you can accumulate some of it, yet even if you use the extra & still have the 5 days you still get penalized. It makes no sense that some workers get the day after Thanksgiving off while others have to work.

  36. We absolutely care. The grapevine sounds like more ridiculousness spouted by management. Every employee in this union knows both the a&l policy and the loss of the day after thanksgiving in the psc are important issues. Stick together people, our representatives are letting them know in albany it is absolutely important to the members along with our other proposals then it will be our turn.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I know of no one who is "OK" with the A&L Policy! What company gives their employees sick time but writes them up if they use it?! Sick time should be able to be used for being sick, doctor appointments, dentist appointments etc, like it used to be!! Sorry, we can't sneak out of the building for our appointments like the rest of management does. They think it goes un-noticed but guess what, IT HAPPENS and none of their so called PTO time is used for it. As for the day after Thanksgiving, we already gave up another paid holiday for that day so in other words they've taken away a paid holiday. If they're going to make us work the day after Thanksgiving then we want the holiday back that we gave up for it. Well NO MORE, IBEW 363 UNIT 12 is FED UP!!! You absolutely cannot keep taking from us!

  38. Dispatchers work every holiday regardless of techs working because there are still high end circuits and 911 lines that go down. Also, hazards are plentiful daily. Callout has to be available 24 hours a day.
