Bargain Update !!

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

First we would like to thank everyone for supporting and participating in our drive to get a fair contract.

Secondly we would like to commend your Chairs, Vice Chairs and Recorders for  their commitment in the bargaining process.

As of Friday September 30th both sides have come to an understanding on about 60% of the language proposals presented from both sides.

The Day after Thanksgiving, A & L Policy, 5 Sick days and the Dress Code are  the major items that are left for language.

AS OF TODAY ONLY LANGUAGE PROPOSALS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED. WE HAVE NOT ADDRESSED ANY ECONOMIC ISSUES, WHICH INCLUDE PAY, TIERS AND INSURANCE. THESE ITEMS WILL PROBALLY BE ADDRESSED DURING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 17TH.

Please stay strong and committed to our drive for a fair contract that benefits ALL of our members.

Thank You

Fraternally,

Sam, Gil and Harry

For some reason I find it really hard to believe that these are the things that are being discussed last minute. As much as I love the day after thanksgiving off I think Equal Pay for Tier III should have been priority number one with bargaining and the fact that it has not yet been discussed scares me honestly. I don't think I can work here much longer if I am not compensated the same to do the same job as the other assignors on the floor.

    1. Economic proposals are always discussed last. Not because they're unimportant but- just the opposite. Language proposals are typically "easier" to discuss, making those better topics for the early stages of negotiations. I, for one, did NOT support the contract that We currently have for two primary reasons- lump sums replacing gwi for some years, and specific classifications, and assignment pay tiers for facility assigners. The tier pay may seem like a good idea in the short term. However, I think "long term"- Morale, unity, and- above all... "equal pay for equal work". We have, in sherburne, tier 3 assigners (max pay approx $15.00/Hr after 4 years) doing work that other locations did, or are doing, for significantly higher pay, such as Bonded internet, Triad provisioning, and Fiber assigning and provisioning. The PSC is getting EXCELLENT QUALITY WORK and DEDICATION from this workforce. It's time to stop the intimidation and mind control games, and SHOW US how much We're appreciated. NOT by feeding us junk food/pizza/chinese/ice cream (leads to higher health care spending by Employees, and the Company alike). But, by rewarding Us with better pay and benefits, and ending the harassment treatment in assignment!!

  2. This was a very good post. Thank you Tier III.

Every contract negotiations whether it be Frontier, Verizon, Local Teachers, Public and/or Private Unions, they all start off with Language Proposals first. Once all the Language proposals are done then they proceed to talk about Economic proposals(pay, benefits, Holidays anything that deals with money issues).

We will get to Tier III pay and all the Tier pays. The company has been informed that this is a key issue for us. Please stay in touch with the blog and you will see we will be discussing economics soon.

  3. I really hope something comes out of this. Our center is so poorly taken care of. Both the building and the employees. I have never heard of a company writing up employees for using sick time to go to the doctor or because you are actually sick. The company gives us time, and we get written up for using it. Makes me so stressed out. Do they still give you extra sick days at the end of the year for perfect attendance?

We are working OT. And pretty much have been for two years straight. We are sitting in chairs older then a 10th grader in high school. I go home everyday hurting.
I am so SICK of this place...and its not the work. Its the babysitting, and watching over the walls, and the lack of care we as employees are given. They make us feel like we are replaceable. I just laugh. If Sherburne employees all called in sick for ONE day this company would not know what to do with itself.

  4. Speaking of overtime......why is overtime only offered to people on certain functions? I dont think it is fair that some people are offered and others are not.

  5. Great job today Sherburne! We need to keep doing this everyday and show them that we stand together! If we can organize something as small as shouting "OMAHA", just think of the big things we can do together!

  6. Permission required to work overtime (What A Slap In The Face). Keep it then (work it yourself).

  7. How you behave, whether you stand together or not, work actions together, whether or not you comment on this blog; these are the most important events that produce results at the bargaining table. The company will not feel inclined to bargain if they think you do not care. Shout OMAHA.

  8. We need to continue to show this company that we are united. we need to stand together. We need to do things to show the company that we are united. Continue to stand up and shout OMAHA the more members that join in will show them how strong we are. This is the time!!!Our other brother and sister from Verizon have shown us what happens when u stand together.

  11. Monday is the start of a new week of negotiations and the company will play hard ball! But we can not show fear they have used the Take it or leave it card too many times now ! Enough is Enough. Brothers and Sisters it is time we get what is rightfully ours a decent raise affordable health care and no fear of the A/L policy.. Treat us the way that upper management wants to be treated with Respect and dignity and appreciation for the hard work and long hours that are put in to make this company what it is today. So when you talk to a new employee tell them not to be afraid when we talk about a strike or to stand up and yell Omaha or put on your red shirt these are our rights as union employees to do so. Please Please stand strong stand together Stand united because we can not go another contract like the last one and have it forced down our throats this time like the last contract ! we can't afford to live like this any longer . United we stand and devided we will fall. WE Can Do This...... May the Force be with you .

  12. A little Birdie told Me Sherburne mis-managers are angry at the daily "OMAHA" chant at 10:30am. Let's continue this, and make it LOUDER! (while muting Our Phones). Avaya= Babysitter.
