October 21 Update

Brothers and Sisters,

Today we finished bargaining for the week with the company.  Economics is moving slow but we have been productive.  We have yet to speak about wages and benefits.  We should get to them at our next meetings.  Both sides will meet together on November 7 and 8 in Harriman.

At the end of our session today we signed an extension to our existing contract which extends it to 11:59pm on Tuesday November 8.

Thank you for all your support.

  2. Thank you for the update. The company needs to know that not 1 schedule will accept ANY lump sums! We desire and DESERVE a wage that wont be eaten up by medical insurance and that can keep up with the cost of living!

  3. Of course, another extension. More delay. More upset members. We will stand together... we will be strong!

  4. First off I'd like to thank the bargaining team for all the hard work they are putting in. I truly appreciate you all going to bat for us.

I've worked with the company now for several years and I think Frontier needs to start living by their own example that they try to instill in the minds of our customers and communities.

Frontier displays the persona that they are a family and community driven company. They take credit for what the people of our center do for our surrounding communities. Yet when it comes to their employees they fail to follow through. It all starts from within... the company should start practicing what they preach.

I have worked through 2 conversions along with working countless hours of mandatory overtime and special projects for the company. Some of the stuff that I have done for the company I feel is out of my pay scale, but throughout the years I have not complained a single time. My brothers and sisters of this company DESERVE equal pay. It's time to stop low balling the new employee's of assignment... Get rid of the tiers that we have in place.

I know many high quality employees who will not stick around if this contract does not meet their standards. The community is starting to figure out what this company is truly about. They are seeing through the false persona that is being thrown out at them. Don't you think it's time the company starts following through on their end?

  5. Not pleased with FrontierOctober 24, 2016 at 10:17 AM

We have seen the company make enough money to expand through two conversions, both of which the company boasted were huge aquisitions costing millions upon millions, and that no other company could pull it off... You just have to look at who did everything for them to fulfill their bragging rights. They did it on the backs of one of the lowest paid centers, using countless hours of OT, strong armed policies such as the A+L, forcing people to come to work sick under the threat of disciplinary action. The OT has lasted the better part of two years, all the while the company "thanking us for all we do" giving us pens, bagel pieces, fruit...

But when it comes time to seriously thank everyone for all they do in ways that actually matter? This is what we deserve? I don't think so.. I can't raise a family I never see on stale bagel pieces.. Thank us by giving us something substantial, something real, not just a fruit platter (which, by the way, we have not seen in quite a while). The company needs to understand we work hard to Live, we do not live to work, and if that is how they are forcing it to happen, then they need to truly, realistically THANK US FOR ALL WE DO...

  6. When are we going to have the next Union meeting? It would be nice to be able to hear what is really going on. We hear things around the center that do not sound favorable, then come on the blog and it says something completely contradictory.

  7. In reading the two above posts about the 2 faces of frontier, both written clearly and professionally, I'm reminded by one of the MANY useful tidbits of advice that My Uncle gave Me, a Military Veteran, and former SVP of AIG Financial. He stressed to Me that, when assessing a Company's true appreciation for it's Employees, look past the smile and professional dress, the "words" of "appreciation", as ALL ARE MEANINGLESS. Instead, Look at the Substantial ACTIONS taken. Clue to frontier bargaining committee, "substantial actions would include, but not be limited to: sharing in the success of the Company in a MEANINGFUL WAY. IBEW Insurance, AND a HEALTHY WAGE INCREASE EVERY YEAR OF THE NEW CONTRACT that EXCEEDS THE COL/CP INDEXES. Lump sums are NOT ACCEPTABLE! Folks, In Frontier's case, look past the free pizza, fruit, bagel bites, free pens, tote bags... and look at the manner in which We're all treated Daily, the frowns, scowls, the disrespectful, intimidating, Childish, and disgusting manner in how we're talked to, and the insults hurled at will during EVERY bargaining period, such as labeling us as "being overpaid", and comparing Our jobs to local small, non-union businesses. Is is these actions, AND ONLY THOSE ACTIONS ABOVE, that show the true "appreciation" that frontier has for it's simply magnificent workforce that works very hard, day in and day out, for the betterment of Our customers, Our families, and the Company. Folks, It's simple. Either We get a fair contract (for ALL departments, classifications, locations), or It's rejected, clear and convincing. The time to stand strong for as long as it takes, is NOW.

    1. Very well said.. we all need to stop and think hard of all that we have done, given up and sacrificed for this company. The 2 conversions, over 2 years of overtime, hours of which you could have been spending with your family time that you will never get back, you can not put a price on that. And the supervisors walk around like we are all in a Natzi camp. They don't care about anyone of us as people... they care that you make their numbers look good. They can tell you what time you signed on your phone what time you take your breaks and lunch but not one could sit down in your chair and do your job! We all not only deserve a raise that you will actually see in your paycheck but a bonus for bailing this company out conversion after conversion! And conversions that are still to come!!! Lets all stick together and show them we have had enough and we want more! WE deserve it!! Actions speak louder than words.. don't tell me you appreciate me, SHOW me you appreciate me!

  9. It's it sad when we I see on our Frontier site the other centers celebrating customer service week with them getting treated to food and snacks and special little events. What does Sherburne get.... nada. Oh wait we received a pen. We are told once every 6 months or so that we are appreciated via email, but actions speak louder than words. A lot of us have committed countless hours being forced to work OT and when is the last time we have been shown how much we are appreciated? Let them show us now via our contract!
